The 2014 Lynch-Bages is full of promise, offering up a classic bouquet of rich but vibrant blackcurrant fruit mingled with with hints of loamy soil, cedar and vanilla pod. Full-bodied, deep and layered, with an abundance of ripe but youthfully assertive tannin, lively acids and a long, resonant finish, it will hit its stride in 10 to 15 years. This is an excellent Lynch-Bages that represents especially good value in the contemporary marketplace. <br/>

18/20 2022 – 2047

This has beguiling hints of plum cake and melted licorice peeking out, while a core of cassis and blackberry confiture waits in reserve. There's ample grip, but this remains very polished and integrated, with lovely echoes of anise and fruitcake showing through the very lengthy finish. Will be hard to keep your hands off this while it ages. Best from 2019 through 2035.

Château Lynch Bages
Overlooking the Gironde estuary, Château Lynch-Bages is located on the outskirts of Pauillac, on the Plateau de Bages, one of the most beautiful gravelly rises in the appellation. The estate formerly belonged to the Lynch family, originally from Ireland, and was purchased by Jean-Charles Cazes in 1934. Starting in the 80’s, Jean-Michel Cazes undertook an in-depth modernization of Lynch-Bages, while preserving the former 19th century vat room. This a area is a rare example of traditional winemaking equipment that was used in Médoc many years ago. In 2006, Jean-Michel handed over management to his son Jean-Charles, and took on the project of breathing new life into the adjacent Village de Bages. The wines of Lynch-Bages reflect the family tradition of generosity and excellence. Lynch-Bages combines structure, finesse and elegance, offering generous aromas in its youth and developing deeper complexities with bottle age. The second wine, Echo de Lynch-Bages is round, soft and seductive in its youth, with outstanding potential for bottle age. The estate also produces a fine Bordeaux white, Blanc de Lynch-Bages, which is a lively and crisp wine with fresh fruits and white flower aromas that dance with delicate woody and vanilla notes.
