The 2019 La Fleur-Pétrus has an entrancing bouquet that demands your attention, delivering a mixture of red and black fruit, licorice, fresh fig and potpourri. The oak here is beautifully integrated. The palate is very harmonious, with ripe, succulent tannins that frame the concentrated black cherry and red plum fruit, and a dash of white pepper and sage, fanning out wonderfully toward the finish. It’s almost like a slightly toned-down version of the Hosanna. This exceeds my expectations. A brilliant Pomerol.

Château La Fleur-Pétrus
This historic château is owned by the Jean-Pierre Moueix family. Planted amongst the finest terroirs in all of Pomerol, Château La Fleur-Pétrus has been a model of consistency for over three decades. During the ‘90s and the first decade of the 21st century, the estate was expanded with the addition of a few precious parcels from Pomerol’s central plateau. This evolution was accompanied by the restoration of an elegant country house, which now houses the production facilities at the heart of Pomerol. Today, Château La Fleur-Pétrus produces one of the most elegant, smooth and refined Pomerols in all of Bordeaux. The Grand Vin is a medium-bodied Merlot and Cabernet Franc blend that with several years of cellaring will become very fine, complex and extraordinarily long-lived.
