96 James Suckling
A subtle, refined 2009 with complex aromas and flavors of currant, smoke, mineral and lead pencil. Full body with ultra-refined tannins and a long, long finish. An integrated, beautiful Beychevelle. Hard not to drink now but will be much better in 2017: a wine for long-term aging.

Mittleres Granat, aufhellender Rand.

This has a slightly brawny edge, but feels like it's filling out quickly, with lush, dark fig sauce, black licorice snap and graphite notes taking on more depth as it airs in the glass. Extra black tea and anise hints flash on the finish. Drink now through 2019. 20,833 cases made. –JM .

2008: This ageworthy, elegant, well-made Beychevelle displays copious red and black cherry fruit notes intertwined with dusty, loamy soil and oak undertones, decent acidity, moderate tannin and impressive intensity as well as length. Give it 1-3 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the next 15-18 years.

Château Beychevelle
Located in the Saint-Julien region of Bordeaux, this Classed Growth, Château Beychevelle has one of the most recognizable labels in all of Médoc. Featuring an estuary boat, the labels show a sail lowered in salute to the estates former owner, the Duc d’Epernon, an Admiral of France. Better known as the “Dragon Boat” wine, it has become one of the most sought after wines around the world, especially in China. Now a sizable 90-hectare property, its vineyards are dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Petit Verdot growth. More recently, they have heavily invested into the renovation of their wine making facilities, cellars, and visitor center. Today the beautiful winery, designed by Arnaud Boulain and Atelier BPM stands with glass walls allowing guests to fully partake in the winemaking process.
