17 Rene Gabriel
Potentialwertung. warten (2016 - 2038)

90 Robert Parker
By no means comparable to their sensational 2005 or 2003, but still an outstanding wine, this singular St.-Julien always possesses notes of spring flowers, boysenberries, black currants, and graphite. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied, classic Bordeaux displaying a deep ruby/purple color as well as moderately high tannin. It needs 3-5 years of bottle age, and should last for two decades or more.
90 Wine Spectator
There's lots of blackberry, licorice and tar on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and plenty of fruit. Not the most complex wine, but outstanding. Best after 2014. ?JS

Château Branaire Ducru
Found just along the Gironde estuary, Branaire-Ducru is home to some of the greatest soils in the region for winegrowing – gravel. In 1680, Jean-Bapiste Braneyre was the first to discover the incredible potential of this property. The 1855 classification later confirmed the quality of the terroir. Branaire-Ducru and its prestigious neighbors then formed a group of châteaux that are now famous worldwide for their excellent wines. Here, quality is an absolute priority and Branaire-Ducru does everything possible to express the terroir’s intrinsic personality and complexity. Composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines express their character year in and year out with great regularity, displaying an enormous amount of fruit, freshness, and subtlety. The winemaking team is fully devoted to highlighting these characteristics in every vintage, and Branaire-Ducru is invariably an elegant wine and a quintessential Saint-Julien.
