16 Rene Gabriel

Their second wine, the 2012 Les Pagodes de Cos (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot), exhibits soft tannins, a deep ruby/purple color, sweet plum, black cherry fruit, a round, generous mouthfeel and excellent purity and depth. This is a very up-front and consumer-friendly second wine to drink over the next decade.
Certainly, proprietor Michel Reybier has done fabulous work since acquiring Cos d’Estournel well over a decade ago. The investment in a state-of-the-art, space-age winemaking facility and intense work in the vineyard have all combined to produce a wine of true first-growth quality.

Juicy and supple, with a forward, fruit-driven persona that delivers plum and cherry preserve notes, lined with subtle anise and lilac flavors and carrying through to a rounded, accessible finish. Drink now through 2017. –JM
