The 2012 Paleo (Cabernet Franc) is a spicy and enticing wine with loads of intensity and inner harmony. The great thing about this wine is that beyond the power and brawn; the wine shows a much higher level of elegance and sophistication than you may expect. This is the Le Macchiole magical touch. Pretty floral tones are woven within a dark fabric of ripe fruit, grilled herb and exotic spice. The wine is absolutely seamless and smooth. <br/>

Le Macchiole's 2012 Paleo Rosso (Cabernet Franc) is rich, ample and dense, with lovely immediacy and plenty of up-front richness. Suave, silky and generous, the 2012 is going to need a few years to develop the full breadth of its aromatics - one of the signatures of Paleo - but it is promising and quite delicious, even at this early stage. The radiant, deeply expressive finish is super-appealing. Over the last few years, the Paleo Rosso has improved dramatically. While Scrio and Messorio are smaller production wines and more expensive, in many ways the Paleo Rosso is making a serious move to establish itself as Le Macchiole's flagship.

lack currant, cherry, cedar, herbs, coffee and spice flavors are the hallmarks of this fragrant, juicy red. Tightens up on the finish, yet remains balanced and long, with fruit and herbal elements echoing on the mouthwatering finish. Cabernet Franc. Best from 2017 through 2025. 250 cases imported.
Producer
Le Macchiole
In the early 1980s, Le Macchiole, along with several other wine-producers established the new frontier of high-quality Italian wines. Before his early death, Eugenio Campolmi and his wife, Cinzia Merli began this revolutionary project, turning their passion of wine into a life changing journey. Together they transformed this 18-hectare estate into one of the leading Super-Tuscan wineries in Bolgheri, ranking beside its neighbors Ornellaia and Sassicaia. Supported by the outstanding work of enologist, Luca D’Attoma, the wines have become Tuscany’s most exciting creations. The estate red, Macchiole is its largest production, followed by three exceptional mono-varietal reds: Paléo Rosso, Messorio, and Scrio. Paléo Rosso is a structured Cabernet Franc. The rich Messorio is a pure-Merlot, and Scrio is a mesmerizing Syrah. Cinzia Merli has since taken over the winery, and with great enthusiasm she continues to keep Eugenio’s innovative spirit alive.
