Mittleres Granat-Rubin.

One of the vintage?s most astonishing wines, this superb effort boasts a dense plum/blue/purple color, aromas of camphor, graphite, roasted meats, and black as well as blue fruits, a full-bodied, powerful style, low acidity, ripe tannin, and excellent concentration. Give this beauty 3-4 years of bottle age, and enjoy it over the following two decades. It has the potential to be one of the vintage?s longest lived wines. Kudos to the proprietor, Catherine Pere-Verge, and her winemaker, Michel Rolland, for exploiting this property to its fullest potential.

Intense aromas of mushroom and berries follow through to a medium body, with light, velvety tannins and a medium finish. Balanced and delicate. Best after 2008. 1,000 cases made. ?JS

Château Le Gay
The wines of Château Le Gay attract the most demanding of wine-lovers. Currently owned by the Péré-Vergé family, this top Pomerol estate owes its inviting reputation to the Robin sisters. Marie and Thérèse owned Château Le Gay for over sixty years and during this time the estate became widely respected. The two women are famously remembered by their father’s motto “Quality before quantity”. Following in the charming sisters’ lead, Catherine Péré-Vergé purchased the property in 2002, immediately enlarging the vineyards to 10-hectares. Just ten years later, Catherine unfortunately passed away, leaving the estate in the hands of her four children, with her son, Henri Parent acting as managing director. Today, Château Le Gay tends towards modernization, with brand new winemaking facilities and sustainable viticulture practices. Manoir de Gay is their contemporary second wine, while the Grand Vin, Le Gay is opulent, rich with berry fruit, and slightly oaked. Six to seven years’ patience will unveil the wine’s inspiring cedary complexity and finely crafted structure.
