The 2013 Lupicaia already presents some austerity, and a very slight evolution is beginning to show. The wine's appearance is darkly concentrated, and the bouquet is slightly tighter and more nervous. Dark cherries, dried blackberries and spice emerge from the bouquet. The wine was going through a phase of being slightly shut down when I tasted it.

Pretty blackberry and blackcurrant aromas with hints of violets. Full body, round and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Refined and tight. Drink or hold.

Castello del Terriccio
Castello del Terriccio is a significant estate located north of Bolgheri, within the Maremma lines. Spread across a major block of Tuscany, encompassing an impressive 1,700-hectares, the land is home to 60-hectares of vineyards and a horse farm. The sloping plots of vines overlook the sea, providing a maritime-like microclimate. Former rider, Gian Annibale Rossi di Medelana Serafini Ferri owns this beautiful property and continues his passion for horses as an avid breeder at his farm. Producing some of Italy’s most modern wines, consulting oenologist, Carlo Ferrini crafts four fresh yet complex reds, and two whites. The rich flagship wine, Lupicaia is now its own brand – bottled under G.A. Rossi di Medelana. In the same spirit of excellence, the property produces Tassinaia, a boldly structured Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend.
