Beautiful aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants with licorice and tile, following through to a medium to full body with fine tannins and a delicious, creamy finish. So attractive. Second wine. Best after 2025

The 2019 Dragon de Quintus has turned out nicely, delivering a generous bouquet of rich, plumy fruit and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's seamless and polished, with its sweet core of fruit framed by ripe tannins and succulent acids, concluding with an expansive finish. As usual, this bottling tends to derive from lower-lying parcels on deeper, sandier soils than those that inform the grand vin.

Château Quintus
Ursprünglich unter dem Namen Château Tertre Daugay bekannt, wurde Château Quintus 2011 von den Domaines Clarence Dillon (von den Châteaux Haut-Brion und La Mission Haut-Brion) erworben und kurz darauf umgeformt und auf den Namen Quintus getauft, entsprechend der alten römischen Sitte, das fünfte Kind Quintus zu nennen. In Bezug auf die Familie Dillon ist dies der fünfte Grand Vin, den sie herstellt, nach den Rot- und Weißweinen von Haut Brion und La Mission Haut-Brion. 2013 kam Château l’Arrosée hinzu, ein weiteres Anwesen in der Appellation Saint-Émilion, dessen Weinberge derzeit in Quintus eingegliedert werden. Heute umfasst der Besitz 28 Hektar, die zu 67% mit Merlot und im Übrigen mit Cabernet Franc (33%) bepflanzt sind. Neben dem Château Quintus wird auch ein Zweitwein namens Le Dragon de Quintus produziert, beide von dem unnachahmlichen Jean-Philippe Delmas, dem Winzer von Haut-Brion und La Mission.
