A wine with its own cult following, the 2010 Avvoltore is a dark and penetrating wine with beautifully balanced characteristics of black cherry, leather, spice and a touch of bitter chocolate. The bright intensity of the 2010 vintage gives it a convincing competitive edge. Soft tannins and a super-velvety mouthfeel add to the appeal. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2025. The Moris family enjoys a long winemaking tradition that spans many generations. They own an enormous amount of land with 37 hectares of vines in the Massa Marittima area and 33 hectares – called Poggio La Mozza – in the Morellino di Scansano denomination. They also run a fantastic agriturismo should you plan to visit.

Moris Farms
Split among two of the finest wine-producing regions in Italy, Moris Farms has become one of Southern Tuscany’s premier producers. The Moris family traveled from Spain nearly 200-years-ago, and due to their elegance and profound dedication, the estate has remained under the Moris name since its founding. The family-owned estate spans 476-hectares wide, 70 of which are planted to vines. Thirty-seven hectares fall under the maritime-influenced Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC, while the remaining 33-hectares of vines qualify as Morellino di Scansano. The property is an excellent source of distinctly intense and robust Tuscans. Avvoltore is at the pinnacle of their production, the wine has even developed its own cult following over the years. Today, this powerful Sangiovese-based blend grows with great vigor and complexity with 6-8 years’ cellaring. The proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah also play a major role – resulting in a richer, more floral and fruity flavored high-quality wine.
