A ripe version, boasting cherry, raspberry and black tea notes, supported by a muscular structure. A bit stern on the finish. Best from 2014 through 2019. 2,000 cases made. –BS

Maison Leroy is a key part to the Leroy empire, as a négociant house they purchase and distribute wines from most appellations in Burgundy. With a long established history in the wine world, this company was founded in 1868 by François Leroy. Today, the Maison Leroy is led by François’s great-granddaughter, the legendary, Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy. She continues to be a purveyor of some of the oldest Burgundies, some of which date back decades. Unlike the similarly owned, Domaine Leroy, these wines are not actually cultivated by the Leroy family, but are choice selections from other growers or producers. The optimistic Lalou Bize-Leroy believes year after year that the best wines are always yet to come.
