Here is another knock-out Barbaresco from the talented team at La Spinetta. The 2015 Barbaresco Valeirano Vürsù grows quickly in power and volume as it sits in the glass. That fluid evolution adds to the expansive and generous nature of the bouquet. The wine passes through various phases of fruit, spice and delicate herbal intensity. In the mouth, it remains silky and long in resolve and endurance. Despite the heat of the vintage, this edition boasts beautiful softness and ripeness that is never too heavy.

The 2015 Barbaresco Vigneto Valeirano is another striking wine from La Spinetta. Precise and finely cut, the 2015 shows the slightly austere personality that is typical of this cru. Even so, the 2015 possesses tremendous energy and intensity. Sweet spice, crushed flowers, crushed rocks, leather, spice, mint and sweet tobacco grace this exquisite, wonderfully nuanced Barbaresco. The 2015 finishes with real substance and gravitas, both of which bode well for its future in bottle. This may be the most finessed edition of Valeirano ever here.
Producer
La Spinetta
Bruno, Carlo, and Giorgio Rivetti are the three brothers behind the legendary La Spinetta estate. Founded in 1977 by their parents, Giuseppe and Lidia, the family has built a super modern Italian winery, producing an exceptional collection of wines from Piedmont and Tuscany. Their original estate can be found in Castagnole Lanza, which still produces delicate Moscato d’Astis. The Rivettis were actually the first to produce single-vineyard Moscato wines, Bricco Quaglia and Biancospino. Since then the La Spinetta has grown to include a state-of-the-art cellar in Grinzan Cavour, entitled Campè, which focuses on red wine production. The family also expanded beyond the borders of Piedmont in 2001, with the purchase of the Casanova vineyards in Tuscany. Here, there are three different 100% Sangiovese wines in production. And lastly, in 2011 the brothers added yet another winery to their already impressive three estates, with the acquisition of Italy’s oldest Metodo Classico sparkling wine producer, Contratto, in Canelli. They also began to produce Vermouths and Bitters. Each of their locations use state-of-the-art equipment, and follow meticulous vinification procedures, producing a wide range of wines that are opulent and richly textured with a modern-styled flair.
