From the Noto area of southern Sicily, the 2014 Sicilia Saia is a pure expression of Nero d'Avola that reflects some of the characteristics of the limestone soils found in the area. There is a faint mineral vein that runs through this wine. It pulls together the various elements of ripe fruit and spice. Despite the opulence and the grandeur of the wine, it also shows an elegant side that comes in large part thanks to that mineral definition. This wine is exceptionally well balanced and beautiful in this classic vintage.<br/>

A harmonious, medium-bodied red that layers fine tannins with a creamy mix of crushed black cherry, dried marjoram, orange peel and ground anise flavors. A lasting mineral note marks the elegant finish. Nero d'Avola. Drink now through 2024. 5,000 cases made.  –AN
Producer
Feudo Maccari
A patchwork of over 50 separate plots, the Feudo Maccari estate was pieced together in 2000, by father and daughter duo, Antonio and Monika Moretti. Along the south-facing hills of Noto – the 100-hectare property benefits from these diverse Sicilian terroirs - making wines that are of incomparable complexity. Ideally located, the winery sits just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea on the southern tip of the island. Along with the similarly owned Tuscans estates, Tenuta Sette Ponti and Poggio al Lupo, Feudo Maccari has risen to the top of Italy’s finest-quality wines. Today, beside his daughter, Monika, the two craft exceptional Nero d’Avola based wines, that are well-structured, elegant, age-worthy examples of the region.
