A pure expression of Chardonnay, the 2012 Trento Metodo Classico Perlé Brut has aged on its yeasts in bottle for five years. You really can't get better value for a classic-method sparkling wine than this. The wine opens to soft and fine beading with rich flavors of lemon mousse, baked peach and cream-filled brioche. You taste the natural richness of the Chardonnay grape at the heart of this wine. Some 450,000 bottles were made.<br/>The Lunelli family at Ferrari is celebrating an exciting new member of its vinous family. A new wine, 2006 Trento Metodo Classico Extra Brut Rosé Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore, now completes its portfolio of high-end sparkling wine. Rosé sparkling wine accounts for a small amount of the total production at Ferrari (only 11%), but a wine like this speaks to a growing opportunity for Ferrari and for Italian Metodo Classico wine in general. I was blown away by this beautiful new product. (December 2018)
Producer
Ferrari F.lli Lunelli
Founded over a century ago by Giulio Ferrari in 1902, the Ferrari company is now one of Trento’s leading sparkling wine producers. A close friend, Bruno Lunelli took over the business in 1952. Today, third generation of the Lunelli family, Marcello, Matteo, Camilla and Alessandro, are at the helm. Based along the mountainside vineyards, amongst the finest terroirs in Trentino, the company owns the largest plot of Chardonnay vineyards in Italy. Ferrari produces sparkling wines under the Trento DOC, which was the first classification in the country for Metodo Classico wines. The family continues to promote “the Italian art of living” with their first-class productions year after year, earning the most awards than any other sparkling wine producer in the country.
