The estate’s 2006 Galatrona (100% Merlot) is especially large-scaled in this vintage, with tons of super-ripe dark fruit, new leather, spices and minerals. The Galatrona presents an intriguing combination of soft-textured, generous fruit wedded to sheer power in a sumptuous, full-bodied style. The tannins are present, but the wine’s sheer density creates an impression of seamless opulence. This immensely rewarding Galatrona should continue to develop beautifully in bottle.
