Falesco
Unique and traditional, the Falesco estate was founded in 1979 by two of Italy’s leading winemakers, brothers Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella. Situated in Lazio on the border with Umbria, this 250-hectare property sits on the dry, well-drained volcanic soils of the region, that provide ideal conditions for Falesco’s textured reds and refreshing whites. The Cotarella brothers’ aim is to promote Italy’s native grape varieties while simultaneously using the versatility of international varietals to their advantage. Today, the Falesco estate offers a wide range of top-quality reds and whites. The finest reds include: Montiano, a high-quality lush Merlot; Trentanni, an equal blend of Merlot and Sangiovese; Marciliano, a complex Umbria IGT produced from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc; the local RC2, which highlights the best of Sagrantino di Montefalco; and a 100% Syrah, Tellus. As for the whites, one of the greatest bottlings is the full-bodied Tellus Oro, a Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc blend.
