Romanée St. Vivant 2003 75cl

One of Vosne-Romanée top growers, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard, is also one of the quieter ones. The Cathiard family first established themselves in Burgundy when Sylvain's grandfather arrived from Savoie to work in the 1930s. He worked for both Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Lamarche, before buying a few parcels of vineyards for himself. Sylvain's father, André, initially began bottling some of their wines. As time went on, Sylvain helped his father but then eventually began his own small domaine. When his father retired in 1995, Sylvain was able to rent the family vineyards and he continued to better the reputation of his domaine, despite only have around 4 hectares of vines. Now, it is considered one of the best domaines in the region. After working beside his father for more than 6 years, Sylvain’s son Sébastien took over the management of the estate.
