The 2014 Domaine de Chevalier has a wonderful bouquet with pure blackberry, raspberry coulis and iodine-tinged aromas that seem to envelop the senses. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, superb acidity and a sense of symmetry that is uncommon in the 2014 vintage. This is a sophisticated, precise wine from Olivier Bernard that could be one of top wines of the vintage. There is an approachability to this Domaine de Chevalier, which you do not always find, however I would be inclined to give this 3-4 years in bottle.<br/>

Focused, with a graphite edge that runs from start to finish alongside the dark plum and blackberry purée flavors. Reveals a pretty echo of anise through the finish, which has latent depth. Solid. Best from 2018 through 2026. 10,000 cases made.

Will heissen; dessen 2011er war leicht besser. Oder anders gesagt; ausser ordentlich gut!
Producer
Domaine de Chevalier
A top producer of both reds and whites, the unique Domaine de Chevalier is one of the leading Grand Cru Classés to craft both varieties in the Pessac-Léognan. The property has been owned by the Bernard family since 1983, although their vineyards date as far back as the 1770s. Today the family continues in their quest for quality and balance with the help of the Bernards’ right hand, Rémi Edange. Edange manages the domaine hands-on, he is equally committed to producing the appellation’s best wines. Today, Oliver Bernard, beside Edange and recently appointed head vigneron, Stéphane Derenoncourt make up quite a fine team, producing some of the most sought after Left Bank whites. Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a small production blend, dominated by Sauvignon Blanc with the remaining one fourth Sémillon, the wine is barrel-fermented and aged resulting in a structured and elegant wine. The newest vintages of Domaine de Chevalier Rouge similarly attract attention, and have continued to grow in quality, it is a sophisticated and generous red that delivers a lot for its price.
