Vom Preisniveau her völlig unterbewertet.

One of the fabulous sleepers of the vintage and a wine for serious Bordeaux afficionados to consider buying, the 2008 is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot that achieved 13.5% natural alcohol. Surprisingly backward for a 2008, it is medium to full-bodied with moderate tannins, lots of purity and abundant charcoal, black currant and floral notes. The sweetness of the fruit, depth of flavor and textured, lush mouthfeel in this medium to full-bodied, ageworthy 2008 are impressive. Give it 3-4 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades. I would not be surprised if it turns out to be as impressive as the 2010.

Lilac, tar and cassis bush aromas are followed by a broad swath of mulled plum, black currant and maduro tobacco. The strong, mineral- and tar-filled spine drives through the finish, which picks up a smoldering edge. Drink now through 2018. 10,333 cases made. –JM
Producer
Domaine de Chevalier
A top producer of both reds and whites, the unique Domaine de Chevalier is one of the leading Grand Cru Classés to craft both varieties in the Pessac-Léognan. The property has been owned by the Bernard family since 1983, although their vineyards date as far back as the 1770s. Today the family continues in their quest for quality and balance with the help of the Bernards’ right hand, Rémi Edange. Edange manages the domaine hands-on, he is equally committed to producing the appellation’s best wines. Today, Oliver Bernard, beside Edange and recently appointed head vigneron, Stéphane Derenoncourt make up quite a fine team, producing some of the most sought after Left Bank whites. Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a small production blend, dominated by Sauvignon Blanc with the remaining one fourth Sémillon, the wine is barrel-fermented and aged resulting in a structured and elegant wine. The newest vintages of Domaine de Chevalier Rouge similarly attract attention, and have continued to grow in quality, it is a sophisticated and generous red that delivers a lot for its price.
