This is incredibly long and beautiful. It’s full-bodied, but comes across with so much finesse and complexity. It goes on for minutes. Compressed with very fine phenolics. One for the cellar.
Producer
Deutz
One of the oldest members of the prestigious Grandes Marques, the Deutz House has been producing distinctive and elegant Champagnes since 1838. Founded in Aÿ, one the most important Champagne producing regions, the estate was created by the perfect pair, William Deutz and Pierre Geldermann. Deutz brought his well-established experience, after working for Bollinger, while partner Geldermann supplied the necessary capital. Today, the rather modest house is owned by Louis Roederer. Sourcing from Champagne’s finest crus, the bunches are hand-selected, pressed and carefully aged in the cool house cellars that have been carved into the historical chalky grounds. The esteemed non-vintage Brut Classic is a well-structured, yeasty styled wine, produced alongside the similarly impressive non-vintage Brut Rosé. While the vintage sparklings are the most luxurious of cuvées, the William Deutz is made from the best Pinots and Chardonnays, while the William Deutz Rosé, Brut Blanc de Blancs and Amour De Deutz are tighter and more refined examples of Deutz classical style.
