94 Robert Parker
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Soutard-Cadet (composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) offers up black plums, warm blackberries and smoked meats scents with hints of black soil, tobacco and black pepper. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic concentration and depth, with a firm, grainy frame and long savory finish.

Château Soutard
With a history dating back to the 1500s, Château Soutard is one of the oldest estates on the Right Bank. The estate had been owned by the same family since the 1800s, until the property was purchased by La Mondiale in 2006 (owners of châteaux Larmande and Grand Faurie La Rose). Located on the northern edge of Saint-Émilion’s limestone plateau, Soutard’s 30-hectare vineyard is predominantly planted to Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Hand-harvested and vinified by variety, the resulting Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé wines are full-bodied and mighty with a great aging potential.
