Sehr dunkles Granat-Lila, rubiner Rand.

Black in color, with impressive aromas of flowers, tar, licorice and ripe fruit, such as currant and sultana. Full-bodied, with a solid concentration of fruit and ultrapolished tannins. Better than from barrel. Best after 2011. 15,500 cases made. JS

This deliciously sexy, seductive style of wine from Prieure-Lichine is very much in keeping with how this wine can perform in a top vintage, offering lush fruit, sweet tannin and a silky, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel with notes of flowers, blue, red and black fruits, some underbrush and loamy soil nuances. Suave, round and juicy, this wine has reached its mature period, and should stay there for at least another 5-10+ years.
Producer
Château Prieuré-Lichine
One of the most unique Médoc properties, Château Prieuré-Lichine owns over 40 separate parcels of vines fragmented across the Margaux appellation. Ending almost half of a century of Lichine family ownership, the château was purchased by the Ballande family, owners of the successful Bordeaux négociant, Ballande Group in 1999. What started as a priory for Benedictine monks in the 12th century, today, the 77-hectare estate has just over 70-hectares under vine. Managed by Justin Onclin, the scattered plots are planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and the remaining 5% Petit Verdot. The 4ème Grand Cru Classé estate produces several reds, as well as a smaller production dry white under the leadership of consulting oenologist, Stéphane Derenoncourt. Driven by passion, the young ambitious team at Château Prieuré-Lichine produces an aromatic, but structured blend with a greater Merlot content, the Prieuré-Lichine red effortlessly displays the depth of their varied terroir.
