87 By Robert Parker
The new second wine of Nenin, this blend of 72% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Franc is sexy, with abundant, ripe black cherry fruit, low acidity, and good length. It is an impressive debut effort from the new owners of Nenin, Jean-Hubert and Michel Delon
Producer
Château Nenin
Château Nenin stands as one of the grandest properties in Pomerol, lying on the outskirts of the Catusseau village. The property is home to 25 hectares of vineyards and a beautiful 19th century château. Since 1997, the estate has been owned by the Delon family of châteaux Léoville Las Cases and Potensac. The wine is a blend of mostly Merlot with smaller parts of Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). Aged in 50% new oak barrels for 18 months, Nenin is a deep, fruit-forward red. The famed Michel Rolland also consults for the château.
