90 Robert Parker
An authoritative effort from Franc Mayne, this 2003 emerges from one of the less favored sectors of the appellation in this vintage. A sexy sleeper of the vintage, it exhibits heady, broad, jammy kirsch liqueur characteristics intermixed with touches of black currants, dried herbs, licorice, and loamy soil. Expansive, with low acidity, but heady, fat, and voluptuous on the palate, it should drink well for 10-12 years.
