This is almost sleek for the vintage, with dark plum, currant and cocoa notes that show a racy edge, as graphite and iron flash underneath. There's persistent fruit and well-rounded flesh on the finish. Drink now through 2014. 55,000 cases made. –JM .

2008: Hard, angular, masculine, lean and austere, this is a wine for masochists to consume over the next 6-10 years.

Claire Villars Lurton continues as the driving force behind Château Ferrière, producing rich, intense, and concentrated wines.
