A rather toasty style, with roasted vanilla and light cocoa notes not yet soaked up by the core of succulent plum and blackberry fruit. A touch firm through the finish.—J.M

The 2015 de Pressac has a very opulent and slightly blowsy bouquet that needs more restraint and definition. The palate is sweet on the entry, very extracted here with a cloying, candied finish. Hedonistic without the requisite class.

Château De Pressac
While this property dates back to Medieval times, Château de Pressac as a vinous estate can only be traced back to the 1700s. Château de Pressac takes its name from the native Right Bank grape variety, Noir de Pressac (also known today as Malbec). The estate was purchased in 1997 by Dominique and Jean-François Quenin – this marked Pressac’s modern era. The Quenins completely renovated the property, from replanting most of the vineyards to streamlining the cellar, Château de Pressac was finally awarded with the status of Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé in 2012. Situated in the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, the estate is home to a single block of vineyards covering close to 42 hectares. The vineyards lie on the famed Saint-Émilion plateau, planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and of course Pressac (Malbec). The resulting wines perfectly combine the charm, power and elegance found in this region.
