The 2015 Coutet comes with 153 grams per liter of residual sugar at 13.8% alcohol. It has a fragrant bouquet with acacia honey, citrus scents and a touch of melted butter, all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive purity, those limestone soils imparting the acidity that defined this Barsac, and lending great precision and tension on the live-wire finish. This is a wonderful Coutet that feels energetic - a compressed spring coil that will drink earlier than the likes of Climens or de Fargues, but has the DNA to age gracefully over 25-30 years.

18/20 2025 – 2065

Château Coutet
Recognized as one of the finest wines in its appellation, Château Coutet was classed as a First Growth in 1855. One of the oldest estates in the Sauternes region, Coutet has an outstanding terroir and architectural heritage. Its origins date back to the late 13th or early 14th century, as evidenced by a tower similar in style to those built at forts during the English occupation of Aquitaine. Château Coutet belonged to the de Lur Saluces family for over a century and is currently owned and managed by Philippe and Dominique Baly, with technical and commercial assistance from Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A., who have exclusive distribution rights. The name Coutet comes from the Gascon word for couteau, or knife, in reference to the wine's fresh, vibrant acidity and unique crispness. When young, Château Coutet has aromas of white flowers, citrus, honey, and vanilla. With age, the botrytis character comes through in a deep, delicate bouquet with hints of spice and candied fruit.
