Château Cheval Noir
Château Cheval Noir is a Saint-Émilion property which belongs to Mähler Besse, a well-established négociant who also co-owns Château Palmer and other smaller Bordeaux châteaux. They produce four reds, as well as a white and a rosé. Its main prestige cuvée, Château Cheval Noir Grand Cru, is comprised of 100% Merlot and is made by Hubert de Bouard, owner of Château Angélus since 2011. In top vintages, they make a cuvée called, Le Fer out of its 2-hectare parcel of its oldest vines of Merlot. In addition to these two impressive examples, they produce a straight Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc as well as a Bordeaux Rouge from 100% Merlot.
