Supple and friendly, with plum and cassis fruit imparting a caressing feel while lightly singed vanilla accents guide the finish. Score range: 86-89 –JM
88 Robert Parker
With a dense, ruby/purple color, low acidity, ripe tannin and well above-average depth, this is really an elegant, cleanly made, pure style of wine, with floral notes, mixed with blueberry and black cherry. It’s medium bodied, with light tannin and is best drunk over the next 10-12 years.

Dunkles Granat, recht satt in der Mitte, rubiner Rand. Florales Bouquet, eher defensiv. Im Gaumen mit viel unreifen Tönen, Zwetschgenschalen über dem aufrauhenden Extrakt. Cinquième Cru? Ja - aber nur auf der Etikette - und leider gar nicht in der Flasche.

Producer
Château Cantemerle
Thanks to their unique terroir towards the southern end of the Médoc, Château Cantemerle produces complex, balanced wines that earned them the Grand Cru Classè title in the famous 1855 classification. The 87-hectare estate is planted with an amalgamate of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon which is quite unusual for the Left Bank, and a surprising 40% Merlot, with the remaining 10% split between Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Passing through several owners, the property has landed in the hands of a mutual insurance company, Groupe SMABTP in the early 1980s. Due to their unrivaled financial status, the group heavily invested into the property, completely expanding, renovating, restructuring the winery, and replanting the vineyard. As their improvements continue to accrue, their production has continued to grow and become more valuable. The estate continues to produce high-quality, rich and vibrantly dark-fruited wines. Médoc at its best.
