Super aromas of this group with dark currants and sweet tobacco. Some vanilla bean. Full body, chewy and tannic. Serious back bone and structure. Better in 2015.

Château Branas Grand Poujeaux
Situated on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, in the village of Moulis-en-Médoc, Château Branas Grand Poujeaux exemplifies one of the smaller, yet quality driven estates in the appellation. Its name, like several other châteaux in the area, denotes the esteemed vineyard – Grand Poujeaux – which is found along the Garonne River, between Pauillac and Margaux. Branas extends over 12 hectares of vineyards which are planted to about half of Merlot, a little less than half of Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as a small percentage of Petit Verdot. The property was purchased by Justin Onclin in 2002, who heavily invested in the modernization of the winemaking equipment and cellars. Today, they produce two wines, their flagship – Château Branas Grand Poujeaux which is a great Médoc value red – and a pleasant second wine, Les Eclats de Branas.
