This is what you might call a "useful" Cru Bourgeois: well made, reasonably priced and delicious. The nose offers plenty of crisp blackcurrant, raspberry leaf and mint aromas that are well defined and have a Pauillac-like personality. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp black smoky fruit. This is very harmonious and focused with a clinical, crisp, focused, balsamic finish. Bravo - this is a great wine. Tasted November 2012

Alluring, with a polished structure that lets the smoldering bay leaf, anise, steeped plum and warm paving stone notes play out. Shows latent grip and solid depth. Best from 2014 through 2022.
Producer
Château Poitevin
Based on Bordeaux standards, Château Poitevin is quite a young estate. Founded in the 1950s by René Poitevin, the estate has grown considerably in quality and size over the decades. In 1991, third generation, Guillaume Poitevin took over the property and completely transformed Poitevin’s role in the wine world. Guillaume decided to vinify their wines in house and this massive undertaking paid off. Château Poitevin was promoted to a Crus Bourgeois property in 2003. Today, the estate consists of 41 hectares of vineyards planted on alluvial-gravel soils. Poitevin wines are now known for their modern style, revealing freshly ripen fruits, well-integrated oak and an incredible balanced finish.
