19/20 2022 – 2042

Offers a velvety feel overall, with steeped plum and currant notes layered with accents of black tea and ganache, Shows a racy tobacco edge underneath.—J.M.

The 2015 du Tertre is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of baked cherries, blackberries and dried herbs with a waft of potpourri and fallen leaves. The medium-bodied palate is delicately styled with perfumed red and black fruits supported by firm, grainy tannins and it finishes with a refreshing herbal lift.

Château du Tertre
Perhaps one of the most overlooked Classified Growths in Margaux, Château du Tertre has remained true to their historic roots. Stretching over 52-hectares, the thousand-year-old estate sits amongst the highest Margaux terroirs, with the most elevated gravel land in Médoc planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Quite recently, the 1855 Classified château was acquired by a Dutch businessman, Eric Albada Jelgersma in 1997. After thoroughly investing in the winery and vineyards, Château du Tertre has consistently produced one of the most perfumed Margaux reds, some even rival its similarly owned sister winery, Château Giscours. The estate’s Grand Vin, Du Tertre has quite a great vocation for ageing, building in complexity with each year of cellaring. As an elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the flagship is an excellent reflection of this château’s exceptional terroir.
