Aromas of strawberry and cherry with hints of flowers. Full body with a solid core of fruit and a silky tannin texture. Bright and pretty. Drink or hold.
Producer
Cà del Baio
Cà del Baio, meaning House of the Bay Horse, is a small family-run winery just outside of Barbaresco, in the village of Treiso. The Grasso’s have been in the wine industry since the 1880s. Founded by Ernesto and Fiorentina, the remarkable Asili vineyard in Piemonte was one of the first plots purchased by the family. Today, representing the third generation, the three sisters, Paola, Valentina, and Federica work alongside their parents, Giulio and Luciana Grasso. With 25 hectares covered by vines, several plots can be found surrounding the Treiso farmhouse – in Valgrande and Marcarini – but the family also owns numerous parcels within the two prestigious Barbaresco Crus, Asili and Pora. This quality-conscious producer, takes all the necessary steps from – vineyard to bottle – to protect the unique identity of each vintage, variety, and origin. They produce fresh styled wines from Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Chardonnay, and Riesling, but are best known for their single vineyard Barbarescos - Asili, Marcarini, Pora, and Vallegrande.
