Bodegas Sei Solo
Bodegas Sei Solo is a unique, inventive project led by Javier Zaccagnini, with vinous expertise coming from the great Mariano García of Vega Sicilia. Starting from four petite plots of 60-year-old vineyards in Zaccagnini’s favorite Ribera del Duero town, La Horra - the project has grown significantly since its humble beginnings in 2004. This famed duo, the same pair that brought us Bodegas Aalto released their first vintage of Sei Solo in 2011. Today, Zaccagnini continues his dream of producing distinctive Ribera del Dueros, ones that offer their own personality, with colorful style contrary to all those who have come before. His minimal intervention viticulture and viniculture practices ensure the purity of the fruit. The wines truly present the wonderful terroirs of La Horra. The modest vineyard holdings of a mere 6 hectares, allow for this quality-conscious estate to be attentive in each stage of harvesting. Once peaked maturation is achieved, the team amazingly picks all of the fruit in one day. Wine-making is also a natural process here, using indigenous yeasts and gravity-fed tanks for fermentation, the wines are then aged in French-oak for 14 to 20 months. Their first wine, Sei Solo, is a single-vineyard production of Tempranillo, expressing the terroir perfectly with emphasis on finesse, elegance and nuance. Their second wine, Preludio, is carefully crafted with the same spirit of perfection.
