Bodegas Leda
This is an exciting new project, producing top Spanish reds without the restrictions of a single D.O. classification. Bodegas Leda pushes to demonstrate the absolute pure potential of the Tierra de Castilla and León regions. By selecting only the best-quality fruit, regardless of their appellation, Leda crafts wonderful and expressive wines coming from ancient Spanish lands. Well-known vigneron, Mariano García initiated this adventure in 1997. And with over thirty years of experience at Vega Sicilia, and years of experimentation at leading Spanish wine-making estates, Mauro and Aalto, García has craved this boundless opportunity for decades. Liberated from appellation limits, García is a pioneer, bringing native and unknown winegrowing regions to the global forefront. Today, this winery is under the joint-ownership of the García and the Masaveu families. Eduardo, García’s son is now responsible for the everyday management of the viticultural and vinification processes at the bodega. There are two wines in production, both are pure Tempranillos, and shine with an enunciated sense of place. The lighter red, Más de Leda is a spicy, greatly extracted example next to their top wine, Leda Viñas Viejas, which is a genuine, powerful but balanced Tinto Fino noted by its supple structure.
