The 2006 Matarromera Reserva was only bottled in magnum. It has a well-defined bouquet with scents of blackberry, fresh dates, coca and a touch of lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fine tannins. There is a fine core of ripe, red cherry fruit intermingling with dates, apricot and orange zest. It leads to a nicely focused, quite precise finish that is harmonious and does not outstay its welcome. Very fine. Drink now-2020.

Black cherry, tobacco, cedar and smoke flavors mingle in this firm, focused red, with dried herb and sanguine notes providing a savory character. A bit tough. Decant. Drink now through 2014. 8,000 cases made. –TM
Producer
Bodega Matarromera
Partially hidden along the north hillside of the Duero Valley, Bodegas Matarromera overlooks the picturesque gorge in Valladolid. The 80-hectare estate produces well-known Ribera del Duero wines, featuring 100% Tinta del Pais, which is the local name for Tempranillo. Felix Gonzalez now oversees the innovative facilities and winemaking processes, as compared to previous years when the creator of the Matarromera Group, Luis Carlos Moro Gonzalez, was heading the vinification. The estate actually offers more than their award-winning wines, they also make cosmetics, olive oil and spirits, organize tours, and not to mention, they own their own hotel and restaurant.
