A chewy and rich red with sliced chocolate, walnuts and dried currants. Coffee too. Full body. Needs at least three or four years to soften, slightly drying now.
Producer
Bodega Chacra
The finest Pinot Noir in South America comes from Río Negro’s most influential winery, Bodega Chacra. The Patagonian estate is devoted to producing three strands of Pinot Noir – Barda, Cincuenta y Cinco and Treinta y Tres - on their 24-hectare valley plot. Proprietor, Piero Incisa della Rocchetta, acquired this property in 2004, leaving his multigenerational Italian winemaking family for uncharted territory. With aims to create the world’s best Pinot Noir, Piero Incisa settled in the Río Negro Valley. Today, the estate instills biodynamic and organic farming practices across their sparse gravel and alluvial soils, resulting in intense fruit forward wines, which have become a signature in their Argentinian-styled Pinot Noirs.
