The NV Blanc de Blancs (tasted from the 0.75-liter bottle) is a pure Chardonnay sourced in the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims and is a blend of the 2005, 2006 and 2008 vintages. The cuvée (Lot L107A8) opens with a clear, fresh and intense bouquet of ripe fruits and some chalky flavors. Full-bodied, terribly fresh and with good grip and tension, this is a persistent, salty-mineral and still a bit nervous Blanc de Blancs with good aging potential. (The magnum sells for $1,500.) Tasted April 2018.
Producer
Armand de Brignac
Champagne Armand de Brignac is a range of prestige cuvées that offer uncompromising quality and taste. These illuminous creations are crafted by 11th generation Champagne growers, the Cattier family. Drawing upon more than 250 years of experience in the region, the father and son winemaking team create each Champagne with exquisite attention to detail. The selection of fruit is made only from the most emblematic vineyards, taken solely the first and freshest portion of the cuvée press and blending a unique trio of vintages. Each bottle is finished by hand, with the application of French pewter labels and hand polishing. A small and highly skilled team of just 14 people follow the process until the wine’s departure from the cellars in France. The result is a Champagne that resonances unparalleled luxury and craftsmanship. Champagne Armand de Brignac was acquired by Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter in November of 2014. The Champagne Armand de Brignac collection is only available in very limited quantities. There is the Gold Brut, Rosé, Demi Sec, and the ultra-prestige single varietals, the Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs.
