Casanova di Neri was founded in 1971 by Giovanni Neri, grain and seed merchant, with the purchase of a property of about 200 hectares. The estate was named Podere Casanova, later renamed Casanova di Neri. In 1978, the company produced its first Brunello di Montalcino, which would later become the White Label. 1981: the first harvest at Cerretalto, a vineyard acquired in the same year with unique microclimate and soil characteristics. Bottled only in perfect vintages, Cerretalto was produced for the second time in 1986.
In 1986, Giacomo Neri joined his father Giovanni and he took over the company in 1991 when Giovanni Neri passed away. The Brunello Tenuta Nuova was produced with the first harvest of 1993, quickly becoming one of the flagship wines of the company. In 2017, the Neri family acquired a small vineyard, 50 years old, southeast of Montalcino, from which the Brunello Giovanni Neri is produced today.
