Impeccably balanced and silky, with finely honed acidity shaping the expansive flavors of toasted brioche, crushed blackberry, lemon preserves and honey, revealing hints of Frangelico liqueur and smoked nut. Rich and vivid, with a lasting finish. Drink now through 2027. 2,500 cases made. –AN

The pale gold, greenish shimmering 2002 Rare Millesime – 30% Pinot Noir and 70% Chardonnay – offers a very intense and rich, yet fresh nose of exotic fruit aromas of pineapples, mango, kiwi and passion fruit. On the palate, this is a mouthful of luscious Champagne: powerful and intense, but pure and with the complexity of matured wines. The finish is very exotic in its fruit aromas, but also persistently mineral<br/>
Producer
Piper-Heidsieck
It all began when Florens-Louis Heidsieck of Riems fell in love with a girl from Champagne. In 1785, the former draper, founded the Cloth and Wine Trading Company Heidsieck & Co. His wines quickly gained wide appraise, even becoming one of the Royal Court’s favorites. Following his passing in 1828, Florens-Louis’ nephew, Christian Heidsieck, and a brilliant businessman, Henri-Guillaume Piper joined forces. After Christian’s sudden death in 1835, his wife remarried Henri-Guillaume, and thus the Piper-Heidsieck brand was born. Known as the world’s most favorite Champagne, the brand has remained under the Descours’ ownership since 2011. Today, Jean-Louis Descours, along with the new president of the house, Damien Lafaurie, work towards the brand’s new image – focusing heavily on the quality of the wine. Piper-Heidsieck still remains one of the greatest value-for-money authentic Champagnes on the market. Their quality wines are crisp and elegant, with a depth and complexity that contradicts the price.
