OFFER OF THE MONTH – Piero Busso

The history of Piero Busso began in the Albesani vineyard in 1948, when the estate was established by Guido, Piero’s father. As time went by, their idea of wine became more and more precise. Following Guido’s untimely death, at the end of the 1970s, Piero Busso, who had always been closely bound to the area, took over as head of the winery, producing the first bottle of Albesani Barbaresco in 1982.

Busso’s motto is that The wine is a reflection of the territory. In fact, the unique characteristics of ideal exposure and soil content of their vineyards, offers all of the elements needed to make a rich harvest and create great wines. A strategy of selection of the grapes and the holistic use of winemaking techniques that optimize the intrinsic quality of the product. All of these conditions support the production a great wines and Piero’s awareness and approach is nature friendly. It’s absolute priority is viticulture that respects the soil, the vines and the environment.

The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, the date for picking the grapes is chosen after a careful analysis of their ripening stage. Each vineyard has its own parcels and each parcel its own vinification and tank. Such a rigorous selection is done in order to highlight the quality and uniqueness of each type of soil on the property. Most wines mature in large oak barrels and a few of them in barrique barrels always paying the outmost attention not to hide the wines originality but to exalt their uniqueness. The vineyards cover an area of 10 hectares and they produce an average overall yearly production is of only 45’000 bottles.

We are happy to be introducing the newer vintages of Busso’s marvelous Barbarescos and Barbera - as always, a beautiful selection of larger formats which enable the wine to be aged in ideal conditions and to be shared with your beloved ones at special occasions.
