One of the leading wine estates along the Rhine, Müller-Catoir has continued to produce wines of great intensity and finesse since the mid-1700s. Family-owned, the estate has been passed down from generation to generation, with ninth generation, Philipp David Catoir currently at helm. Located on the edge of the Palatinate forest, the estate is home to around 20 hectares of vineyards found in the Mittelhaardt region. An innovator of reductive viniculture, Martin Franzen is in charge of winemaking at Müller-Catoir, producing a wide range of wines, varying in quality and sweetness. Famed wine critic, Robert Parker sums this estate up well, “Considering the extraordinary diversity of superior wines it produces, Müller-Catoir is the Pfalz’s greatest estate. Who else has achieved such brilliance with not only Riesling, but with Muskatellar, Schreurebe and Rieslander?”
