Kauffmann
One of the two pioneers of the Ticino vinous renaissance of the 1980s, Adriano Kaufmann, now produces some of the most marvelous characteristic estate-wines in the country. While Kaufmann is a Berne native himself, the property is located in Switzerland’s southernmost canton, Ticino. The 4-hectare terraced vineyard lies in the intimate hills of Malcantone. Thanks to its exceptional positioning, the vines thoroughly enjoy the Mediterranean climate – producing the best grapes in the region. The Sottoceneri property is biodynamically farmed, preserving the upmost purity of the fruit. This particular terroir, combined with Kaufmann’s experience and passion for viticulture and viniculture, has made his wines simply irresistible. Kaufmann’s determination to produce high-quality wines has left no room for compromises. Pio della Rocca represents his most impressive label. Through meticulous grape selection in the vineyards, to more than careful tasting in barrels, Pio della Rocca is a bold, bottled-aged Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend. Adriano Kaufmann represents one of the best Swiss winemakers to date, his innovative forward thinking has reached even past national borders, today, his wines represent the archetypal Ticino production.
