Founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. This Champagne House is known to have a significant amount of Pinot Noir in their vineyards. This grape variety gives Heidsieck’s non-vintage cuvées notable structure. The house produces 4 different cuvées, including Blue Top Brut, Blue Top Premiers Crus, Extra Dry and the only vintaged champagne, Gold Top Millesime, which is also the only one to contain an almost balanced proportion of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. It was one of those interesting Champagne Houses to have some long lost treasures found on the bottom of the ocean floor. In 1998, their Diamant Blue 1907 was found in a shipwreck in the Gulf of Finland. The ship was en route to deliver goods to the Imperial Court of Tsar Nicolas II of Russia via Sweden when it was hit by a torpedo. Its rare contents made its way into auctions all over the world. Today, it is owned by Vranken, a large drinks company, who also own Pommery and Demoiselle.
