Domaines Ott - Château Romassan
The original prestige rosé producer, Domaines Ott comprises three Provençal estates that produce some exceptional wines. Their legacy originally started in 1896 when the young agronomist Marcel Ott found the wine area that most inspired him: Provence. But the vineyards were of poor quality at the end of the nineteenth century (following phylloxera), and so the wines they produced had little appeal. With fierce determination, Marcel Ott replanted all the estates with quality grape varieties so that the great wines of Provence could flourish again. The domaines were added one-by-one with the last being Château Romassan in Bandol in 1956. It is their only rosé produced exclusively from red grapes, but it is just as elegant as its others and features a light petal pink colour, aromatic notes of peaches and citrus fruits with a lovely, dense fruit core. They also produce a white wine from Clos Mireille, their beautiful estate a stone’s throw from the sea.
