Domaine du Clos Frantin
The Domaine du Clos-Frantin lies in Nuits-Saint-Georges and covers 13 hectares, including 8 hectares of Premiers and Grands Crus which are dispersed over the villages of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The respect of the soils, rigorous pruning and green harvesting when necessary, helps to obtain the best quality fruits. Though owned by négociant Albert Bichot, it is run like a separate domaine. Their cellars lie in a historical building located at the entrance to Nuits-Saint-Georges, where they vinify their estate wines and red wines made from purchased grapes, the majority of which come from the Côte de Nuits. They use gravity in the cellars which has replaced mechanical procedures in view of respecting the grapes quality and aromatic potential. The vaulted cellar, which dates back to the Middle Ages, houses 700 barrels at a constant temperature of 13°C with perfect humidity levels for optimal ageing conditions.
