A step behind the gorgeous 2010, the 2011 Alpilles offers an upfront, perfumed and complex style in its garrigue, saddle leather, lavender and assorted red berry fruit. Possessing some brett, it's a full-bodied, full-flavored and character filled effort that has sweet tannin and terrific length. I don't think it will be the longest lived Trevallon, but another 7-8 years should be no problem.

A funky version, with chestnut, bay and pepper notes holding sway, but the core of plum, cassis and cherry fruit is fresh and vibrant, showing enticing sanguine and olive hints lingering on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Best from 2015 through 2020. 40 cases imported. –JM

Domaine De Trévallon
A cult-wine producer situated amongst the rolling hills of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Domaine de Trévallon is located in the small village of Saint-Etienne-du-Grès. Originally created by Eloi Dürrbach back in 1973, when he planted his first vineyard on the north-facing side of the Alpilles to Syrah and Cabernet varieties. Today, the omnipresent limestone terroir has grown into over 17-hectares of vines that surround the old farmhouse, planted to Marsanne, Roussanne and Chardonnay. This benchmark Provençal estate is now titled with IGP status, producing classic reds that are very impressive, and refined examples of the appellation. Barrel-aged in large older wood, the reds here benefit from about five years’ cellaring. The white is a blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Chardonnay, it is a barrique-fermented and intense wine with subtle floral and nutty-fruit essences
