Domaine de Marcoux

Domaine de Marcoux has a long history, at the time, it was called Castrum Novum, a Latin term meaning "fortified village". Though their existence is ancient, their reputation as a wine producer is only very recent with their first vintage being 1989. It is owned by the Armenier family and is run by two sisters - Catherine, who is the winemaker and Sophie, who manages the business end of things. They are a biodynamic producer and currently farm 17.5 hectares of vines, of which the majority are over 50-years-old. The oldest, however, are over 100-years-old and are planted on some of the region's best sandy soil, and are those grapes that made up their Vieilles Vignes cuvée. They produce three Châteauneuf reds, as well as two Châteauneuf whites and a Côtes du Rhône. The wine collection includes their flagship proprietary red blend, their cuvée Ephemère which is a newer wine, produced from vines they purchased in 2002, and their most famous Vieilles Vignes, which is a 100% Grenache wine, that is considered one of the greatest expressions of the region.
