Domaine Comte Senard

Domaine Comte Senard is one of the most renowned producers in the northern Côte de Beaune. In 1857, Jules Senard, the great grandfather of the domaine’s current owner, established the original Corton Clos Des Meix vineyard. This plot covers an area of 2.4 hectares and has been considered a monopole (under exclusive control of the family) ever since. Over the years, they added other Côte de Beaune Grand Crus to their vineyard holdings to include, Clos du Roi, Bressandes and Paulands. They currently own just under 9 hectares of vines divided over 13 appellations. Today, it is managed by Philippe Senard and his daughter Lorraine. A believer in more natural winegrowing methods, they practice sustainable & organic viticulture. Depending on the quality of the harvest, they will either de-stem, partially de-stem or use 100% whole cluster (as with the 2009 vintage). They are also a believer in cold soaking the grapes in order to extract the most fruit possible - a technique they have practiced since 1988. Once fermented, the wines are then aged in the estate's cellars that had been built in the 14th Century by Benedictine monks from the Abbaye Sainte-Marguerite
