Domaine Jean-Yves Bizot is one of the privileged few Burgundy producers that call Vosne-Romanée home. It is run and owned by Jean-Yves Bizot, who had originally studied and has worked as a geologist before taking over the domaine in 1994. Today, he continues teaching viticulture and oenology in Beaune. His father built up the domaine to 2.5 hectares before his arrival. Jean-Yves was able to add an additional hectare in 2007, so now the domaine boasts 8 appellations over 3.5 hectares, including one white wine and one grand cru, Echézeaux. Following in the steps of the way DRC used to bottle, he bottles his wines barrel by barrel to avoid any exposure to oxygen. He also tries his utmost to make 'natural' wines, by only using minute amounts of Sulphur dioxide during maturation and/or at bottling.
